2014 April - Withdrawal of Enforcement Appeal

Issued: April 2014

Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for your continued support & interest regarding our planning problems.  I have seen many of you over the last few weeks, however for those I haven't seen or spoken to, here is our latest update.

The planning appeal on May 13th is no longer happening as  I have been working quietly behind the scenes to try and progress the situation and am now pleased to release this statement:

"We are very pleased to announce that over the last few weeks we have spent a lot of time and effort discussing matters with Wokingham Borough planning officials and our Ward Councillors in the hope that we can resolve our planning dispute and get on with planning the next phase for the future of Hare Hatch Sheeplands.

As part of this ongoing process we have withdrawn our appeal against the  Enforcement Notice issued by WBC. I have identified a way in which we can resolve the problem without compromising WBC's  greenbelt policy. There is every reason now to believe that a solution is within sight which will be acceptable to all parties.

We would like to thank our local councillor Bob Pitts for his help in reaching this point.

Further updates will be published as soon as we have the information.

I would once again like to thank you for all of your support."

Kindest Regards,

Rob Scott

If you are new to this case, the simplest way of explaining it is that Wokingham Borough Council do not want to permit us to continue as a retail business located on this piece of land as it is within green belt.  The enforcement notice they have issued gives us a 6 month deadline to stop unlawful activities. These activities in the most general terms are the sale of anything that isn't grown on site & changes of use of our buildings from being a horticultural nursery to being storage, play area, coffee shop lounge, coffee shop garden  & events.  If WBC are successful, we will have to close down with the loss of over 100 jobs.  There is a huge amount of background to this case, you might want to look at the following, or even ask us some questions too.

Take a look at some of the letters to customers we have sent over the past years too - click on the list down the right hand side of this page.

If there is anything you can't open, please ask and we will send it to you.  This is an extremely complex planning case which goes back over 10 years.  We would be delighted to talk you through it if you would like further information.
