2013 - 1 May - Letter to customers
NEWSFLASH – ‘WOKINGHAM SAY ‘NO’ THEY CANNOT NEGOTIATE’
SO, WILL YOU COME AND SUPPORT US AT THE APPEAL?
Thank you for all of your letters you sent to Wokingham Borough Council in the last two weeks which encouraged their officials to meet us on April 30, even though they had previously broken off negotiations.
We were invited to meet the council’s new Head of Development Control and were hopeful that this would lead to them acknowledging the strength of public opinion and resuming negotiations.
Sadly we were told that despite their independent consultant supporting our compromise plan, there was no way WBC could approve this plan or suggest any viable alternative, thereby leaving it to an independent inspector to make the planning decisions.
We are now busy preparing for a “make or break” planning inquiry which begins in Wokingham on Tuesday, May 14. If we lose the appeal we will not be able to maintain a viable business & will be forced to close down with the loss of over 100 jobs.
We are sure that the inspector will take into account a large turnout of our supporters when the inquiry opens next Tuesday 14th May at 10am – which is why we are confirming that this is a public inquiry and EVERYONE is welcome & we would be pleased to see you there. There is also an opportunity to hand any further letters of support to the planning inspector. We can take these for you if you are unable to attend. Please hand them in before the 14th.
If you can come please could you let us know to firstname.lastname@example.org or 0118 9704690. We may be able to help with car-sharing or transport from HHS.
