CAn you Support our planning Appeals BY ThE 3rd MARCH 2022?

15 Feb 2022

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued support without which we would have been unable to continue as a family business. We need your help yet again!

We were granted Temporary planning permission on 13 August 2021 by Wokingham Borough Council to allow our Garden Shop and fortnightly community events to continue operating until 14 March 2023. However, on each of these permissions, conditions were attached which severely impact how both the events and Garden Shop can operate. We are appealing against these conditions and you are permitted to comment/support by 3 March

Garden Shop Appeal ref: Ref:APP/X0360/W/21/3282720

As it stands, without the removal of Condition 3, the Garden Shop would be required to close from the 14 March 2022. The condition requires us to demonstrate we can operate without a Garden Shop* beyond March 2023; which is not possible or what our customers expect. If you would like to see our Garden Shop remain open until the Garden Centre application is determined and commenced in due course, we would welcome your support on this appeal. *Garden Shop is where we sell any goods that are not plants grown on our nursery. It includes such things as seeds, tools, bulbs, fertilisers, garden ornaments, bought in plants, Christmas trees, pots etc.

Why? We only have temporary permission for a garden shop as WBC classify us as a retail nursery and restrictions of being on the Green Belt mean they do not wish to grant permission for us to be any more than a plant nursery with a cafe (permission won at planning appeal) and farm shop (permission won at planning appeal).

Events Appeal ref: APP/X0360/W/21/3287734

Regarding the Events Condition 3 on the Events permission would not enable us to run the Lindi Fayres or any other community or charity event where goods are usually sold. It would undermine the very purpose of the events permitted and would not allow for them continue. If you would like to see community events continue, please consider writing in support of our appeal. Comments can submitted on-line at the following link:

Thank you for your continued interest and support.
The planning inspectorate, unlike Wokingham Borough Council, have always placed great value on our public support and it is vital that we demonstrate this again or we could have to close the garden shop and stop holding events. This would destroy the viability of the business even as we await the outcome of our garden centre application.

Kind regards

Rob, Andrea, Andy, Nick and all the team here at Hare Hatch Sheeplands
